About what we did in 2018 and news for 2019, we are growing!

Ladies that UX 2018
Ladies that UX 2018

It’s that time of the year again, everything is wrapping up at the end of the year, and 2018 was a special one for us. It’s been a big one here for us Ladies that UX! You see, we started two years ago and we grew from 25 to 450 members in Ireland. Globally we are over 3000, we’re small, but we are united in common goals to empower women with technical skills related to UX.  We’ve also grown our lovely team (say hello to Marcella), we have been nominated to the Women in IT Awards, our founder and city leader, Luana, was nominated Digital Leader of the Year. We have planned some exciting changes for the new year! We will be announcing new partnerships, global and local in our first meetup which will be in the format of a workshop, one hint is that we’re partnering with global players in the design field! We couldn’t have done this without the support of all of you! We’re so glad to have you on this journey with us.

We’ll be quieting down for the next month so we can all have a well-deserved break – but try not to miss us too much! If you do though, here are some reading suggestions to keep us in your mind 😉

With that said, here’s what we’ve been up to in the last couple of months… Enjoy!

Lightning talks

We introduced lightning talks, giving our members 10 minutes to practise for a conference talk, here is our city leader and UX Lead Tahkmina giving her talk about Enterprise UX.

Most attended meetup: Accessibility in UX (over 80 people)

We talked a lot about the importance of accessibility in design and our most successful meetup happened at Workday, we had Talita Holzer, CEO of Waytob, Ruchi Palan, UX researcher specialising in accessibility, Luana Cavalcanti, our founder and UX/UI designer and David Pollard, founder of Learning Tech Labs.
A big shout out to Workday for hosting us!

We partnered with Upstarter, Ireland’s largest tech recruitment event to promote a 50% gender ratio between men and women.

We also attended UXDX, which for us is the best conference about UX in Europe. We were there for the workshops, the talks and the after party.
A big shout out to Catherine Madden for all the great work she is doing leading!

And we got our first international speaker, San Francisco Ladies that UX city leader and UX researcher at Google, Clara Kliman-Silver
A big shout out to Zalando Ireland for sponsoring us during Responsible Artificial Intelligence meetup!
