The Ladies That UX DC Book Club

Our Book Club reads a book every other month and meets once a month to share thoughts and ideas about the reading. The first meeting covers the first half of the book and second meeting discuss the second half and the book overall. Meetings are on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6pm online. Networking Bingo

Transitioning Into a Career in UX

Our virtual panel, ‘Transitioning Your Career in UX’ was on Thursday, October 12th. We chatted with five UX professionals about their journeys transitioning into UX careers. It was our highest attended event to date!

Join us on Wednesday, August 23rd from 7-8pm EST for an Ask Me Anything session with Michele Ronsen, founder and CEO of Curiosity Tank. Learn more about the importance of user research and get tips on gathering and sharing data to create better products. 

Let’s go for a hike

On Sunday, May 21st we hiked into Rock Creek Park for a couple of hours of exercise, air, and bonding. Several members bought their fur friends! 

Call for Volunteers!

On Monday, May 1st we held a meeting for prospective volunteers. In order to continue to our monthly events and to expand our offerings to support our growing group, we’d like to implement a tiered volunteer structure. We discussed roles we are looking to fill, what is involved, and how to make an impact in your local LTUX Chapter and UX community.

Womxn, UX and The Art of Holding Space

On March 30th, 2023 we celebrated Womxn’s History Month with a talk by Jeneen Piccuirro where she discussed the power of holding space for womxn communities, how we can apply space holding techniques in UX work, and why wellness is important for our creativity and careers.

Fundraising, Networking, & Brainstorming Brunch

Saturday, February 18th from 11:30am – 2:30pm. The $40 per ticket cost includes all food and beverages. Leftover funds will be used to enhance a future event. Attendance is limited to 16 people so grab your ticket today! 

Our First Annual Ugly Sweater Holiday Bash

We had a great time at the Dew Drop Inn with sweater prizes, laughter, and end of year stress relief. We look forward to doing another one next year.

Fall Talk Series – UX Bootcamp to VP: How to Navigate a Career Transition

Laurie Breen went from General Assembly UX Design bootcamp to Vice President of Human Centered Design at agencyQ less than 3 years. She shared the lessons she learned along the way about maximizing opportunities, framing past work experiences, recovering from missteps, and setting yourself apart. We also celebrated by introducing Rachel Max as our newest Chapter Co-Lead!

After a long 6 year hiatus and COVID, we finally had our first in-person networking event! It was amazing to see so many new faces and to re-introduce new leadership, Emilie Romero, who will be serving as DC’s Ladies That UX Chapter Lead.
